After the Trial Ends

After the trial is complete, the research team may access a clinical trials’ information to help the clinical trial sponsor or submit data to the FDA.  When the results of the trial are published, patients’ names are not used to protect their identities.  If the FDA, considering all the submitted data and information for the trial, concludes the new drug or treatment is safe and effective for people to use, they will approve it and it becomes the new standard treatment.

If you want to read what has been published about a clinical trial that you participated in, contact your doctor.  Ask for the name of the journal, date of publication, lead author and title of the study and you will be able to obtain a copy of the article.
