Patient Privacy When Participating in a Trial

Researchers give patients a number or code to protect their identities throughout a trial.  When the results of the trial are published, patients’ names are not used.  (However, patients’ privacy is not an absolute certainty, the FDA may be required to reveal the names of participants under very rare circumstances.)

More details about Patients Rights and Privacy are extensively discussed in the Informed Consent form a patient must sign in order to participate.
