Patients & Families

Cancer affects us all, whether we have it, care about someone who does, or worry about getting it in the future. If diagnosed, no two people experience it the same way.

Diagnosis may make you feel worried, sad, confused, or angry.  Everything changes and you are now asking yourself questions like: What do I tell my family?  How will they react?  Will I be able to continue to work?  How do I pay for treatment?  And in addition to the emotional and financial issues, there are physical difficulties that you must learn to manage.  It is undisputed that cancer turns your whole world upside down.

Fortunately, as the science of treating cancer has advanced, researchers have developed better, more effective treatments, which means patients now have more options.  Choosing a treatment path, and whether or not to participate in a clinical trial, may be a very difficult decision to make.  But, this is a question only you, those close to you, and health professionals familiar with your situation can consider and answer together.
