The most recent SARC meeting was held just prior the 45^th Annual ASCO meeting, May 29 – June 2, 2009 in Orlando, FL (Rosen Center).  There were over 150 physicians and study personnel in attendance. 

 Meeting highlights are seen below:

1.      Rosenfeld/Chawla lectureship featured Dr. Steven Rosenberg presenting compelling data from ongoing clinical trial at NCI where he is studying nyeso1 in multiple tumor types including synovial sarcoma

2.      Physicians discuss the development of a World Sarcoma Network to serve as collaborative platform between cooperative sarcoma clinical research groups world-wide

3.      SARC004, a study of imatinib in DFSP complete and plans being developed to study pre and post treatment tumor samples obtained.  Dr Fletcher, Brigham Women’s Hospital, shared insights into possible correlatives to be considered to maximize information learned from these important tissue samples

4.   SARC005, A uterine leiomyosarcoma study complete. Preliminary results promising for adjuvant treatment with gem/txt plus adria.  SARC005 also to provide additional data into FIGO versus AJCC staging for uterine leiomysarcoma

5.   Dr. Pollock, chair AJCC sarcoma staging committee presented staging update

6.      SARC009, dasatinib trial nears completion of accrual with nearly 300 pt with multiple subtypes accrued in 2 years

8.   SARC019, imatinib blood level concept for new clinical trial discussed
